Integrated pest management
Our general pest control follows an integrated pest management (IPM) approach. Rather than reaching straight for poison, we find out why pests are there and how they are getting in, and fix that. It means fewer chemicals, longer-lasting results and less risk to pets and wildlife.
- Non-chemical methods first, such as proofing, trapping and better housekeeping
- Professional products used sparingly, only where they are needed
- Rodenticides used under the UK stewardship scheme (CRRU), always in secure stations
- Proofing to stop the same problem coming back
Wildlife and the law
We do not kill honey bees. We remove colonies live and rehome them with local beekeepers. Bird work is planned around the nesting season, because wild birds and their nests are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, and we follow the rules on invasive species such as grey squirrels.
Waste handled properly
As a licensed waste carrier, we take waste to licensed sites and give you a waste transfer note, so nothing we collect ends up fly-tipped.
Training and the industry
Our technicians are trained to RSPH Level 2 in Pest Management, and we keep learning as products, methods and rules change. We also give back to the industry: our director Fergal presents on behalf of the BPCA's Academic Relations Working Group and sits on the volunteer committee of Pest Minds, the UK pest control mental health charity.
Developing local people
We are a local employer, and we train new pest controllers in-house, working alongside experienced technicians on real jobs. Meet the people behind PPM on our about page.
