What to do while you wait

  1. Stop using waterDo not flush toilets, run taps or use the washing machine or dishwasher. Every drop goes into the blocked drain.
  2. Keep people and pets awaySewage carries bacteria. Keep children and pets away from any overflow and wash your hands after contact.
  3. Take photosPhotos of the overflow and any damage help us and help with insurance claims.
  4. Check the neighboursIf neighbours have the same problem, the blockage may be in a shared or public sewer, which is the water company's responsibility.

Clearing it, then fixing the cause

We clear the blockage first with rods or high pressure jetting to get things flowing. If the drain is damaged, we put a camera down to see why, and give you a clear quote for the repair. Many repairs can be done without digging using no-dig relining.

Drainage

Public sewers and the water company

In England, you are usually responsible for drains that serve only your property and sit within its boundary. Shared drains and sewers beyond your boundary are normally the water company's, which across our area is mainly Anglian Water. If we find the problem is in a public sewer, we will tell you, so you can report it to them.

Insurance

Many home insurance policies cover accidental damage to drains. Our CCTV survey findings can support a claim, so check your policy before any repair work starts.
