About rabbits
Rabbits damage crops, gardens, young trees, sports pitches and grazing land, and their burrows can undermine banks, footpaths and building foundations. A small number can quickly become a big problem, because rabbits breed for much of the year.
Signs of rabbits
- Plants and young shoots grazed down to the ground
- Bark stripped from the base of young trees
- Burrows and scrapes in banks, hedges and lawns
- Small round droppings in clusters
How we control rabbits
- Advice on rabbit-proof fencing and protecting young trees
- Trapping
- Burrow fumigation by trained technicians
Under the Pests Act 1954, occupiers of land in England have a duty to control rabbits on their land. If rabbits from your land are damaging a neighbour's crops or property, you can be required to deal with them.
